With inclusivity and community at the forefront of The Pontiac’s ethos, the team has long since set the tone for female representation in Hong Kong’s bar scene. With each generation that has stepped behind the bar, knowledge and experience has been passed down, giving each person the tools to succeed in bars around the world and even open their own.
Today, under the guidance of General Manager and Mezcalier, Jen Queen, The Pontiac continues to be a place of community, inclusivity and just great fun. With over 20 years of experience in the industry from slinging cocktails behind bars in San Diego to creating unique beverage programs in up-and-coming hospitality industries including Cambodia & Myanmar, Jen is known for connecting communities, sharing knowledge, and promoting inclusivity and empowerment for all.
The Pontiac’s 10-year anniversary menu Talking Walls has taken its inspiration from the many memorable quotes, graffiti and messages that have been etched onto the physical walls of the bar over the past decade. “We view all the nights we’ve ever had in this bar as a collaboration between the bar team and our guests, and these etched messages are the physical representation of the last ten years of our history,” says Jen. “For this landmark menu, we wanted to commemorate and celebrate them and give them back to our guests as a thank you for being a part of us for the last decade.”
A standout of the Talking Walls menu is First & Last (HKD $98) - a tequila-based cocktail made with Ribena-Hibiscus syrup and Fenugreek tincture, giving it a contrasting sweet and savoury flavour profile. The name of the cocktail is inspired by a quote found on the wall in a corner of the bar - “the first & last girl i’ll ever be with.”
“This particular message is so close to our hearts,” explains Jen, “When we were looking at our walls, we expected it to be mostly scribbles and profanity, but we came across this sentence, and it made me realise that someone’s heart is on that wall and how important The Pontiac.”
One section of the menu features three drinks inspired by an anonymous sticker artist whose iconic tags can be spotted around Hong Kong. The cheekily-named drinks include I Post My Crimes for Likes (HKD $88) made with Gin, rum, strawberry-oolong cordial, lemon and Aér; Take Your Time It's Worth It (HKD $108) featuring Coconut Dark Rum, Borghetti, espresso, miso caramel with a dash of Amaro; and One Day My Sex Tape Will Matter (HKD $118), a blend of Cognac, rum, salted lemon cordial, and lime leaf Curaçao.
Anyone who has ever had a drink at The Pontiac will know their signature cocktail, The Hobnail, is a firm fan favourite, with complex notes of ginger, fresh lemon, and rich amaro. Every volume of The Pontiac’s menu has always included The Hobnail, and, for the rest of 2025, the drink will be rolling back to its original menu price of HKD $88.
The Pontiac will also be throwing a 10 Year Anniversary party to celebrate their milestone decade and the new Talking Walls menu on 10 October 2025. The event will feature music by DJs Diamond & Gargoyle Girlfriend, a backyard BBQ by @bbqfoodforfriends and an OG bar takeover by some of the original opening team including Beckaly Franks and Michael Callahan.
Jen concludes: “Trying to define The Pontiac collapses what it possibly could be. An inclusive collaborative community isn’t a concept, it's a culture. We want to invite the whole of Hong Kong to celebrate our 10 years at the forefront of the community, and to come help us build the next 10.”
