Singapore's Mandala Club presents MASL by World’s Best Female Chef Pía León and partner Virgilio Martínez

[Hong Kong, July 2022] Mandala Club launched in November 2021 and has quickly established itself as the hub of Singapore’s most dynamic community. The first in an unrivalled network of urban and facilities-based clubs, it is designed and presented as the home of conversation, creation, celebration and connection.

 

A unique arm of the Club’s offering, its Mandala Masters series, is a global initiative that has invited international titans of fine dining to its Singapore community, serving up extraordinary culinary experiences to more than 12,000 members and guests to date. Following the storming sell-out success from legends Mauro Colagreco from Mirazur and Gaggan Anand, next up are the culinary super couple behind Kjolle and MIL – world-renowned Peruvian chef and restaurateur Virgilio Martínez and World’s Best Female Chef Pía León. Martínez and León have cemented their legendary status in Latin America, while their flagship restaurant Central has amassed an enviable list of accolades over the past decade. It has consistently topped the 50 Best Restaurants Lists, recently voted as No.2 in the World's 50 Best and No.1 in Latin America’s 50 Best, while it was also named Latin America's 'best of the decade'.

Running from 5August until 30 October 2022, MASL (read and pronounced “Meters Above Sea Level”) is the first time that this highly decorated husband and wife chef duo will be working together in a project of this kind outside of Peru. Martínez and León have evolved an entirely unique, one-of-a-kind and never to be repeated dining experience for Singapore based upon their ground-breaking work at Central. Multi-course tasting menus of completely new dishes have been developed exclusively for MASL to present the chefs’ signature interpretation of Peru’s vastly biodiverse landscapes and ecosystems in Singapore.

 

Chef León states, “People are looking for experiences that surprise but also transcend. An interesting culinary experience should be new but also complete, multi-faceted and presented with the elements to make the story behind it cohesive and meaningful.” She adds, “We came together to make MASL feel like our house, our hands, our joint teams from Central and Kjolle.”

 

Mandala Club has been transformed by CEO Ben Jones’ lifelong passion for design, food, music and travel. He drives the planning, development, design and overall direction of the Mandala business and brands into Asia Pacific’s most dynamic private membership community, one which is open to Hong Kong residents.

 

The heritage listed building on Bukit Pasoh Road in Chinatown is a legacy of the intertwined clans and communities that once thrived in the neighbourhood.
