Following on from the success of their residency last year, nüte is returning for a second, more long-term gig at BaseHall to showcase their modern “Japaneasy deli”, with a focus on serving a range of hearty and healthy Japanese-inspired bento bowls designed to be eaten on the go.

Founded by Cheman Cheung, nüte prides itself on creating tasty and nutritious food that is good for both consumers and the environment. Since early 2021, the brand has established itself in Hong Kong’s wellness scene with a range of innovative products including Icebar Smoothies along with their sweet and savoury granolas and zero plastic packaging.

Supported by BaseHall, benko by nüte is the latest venture for this exciting young company. Named after the Japanese words for healthy (kenko) and lunchbox (bento), benko by nüte aims to establish itself as one of Hong Kong’s first gourmet grab-and-go concepts.

“There is no single formula for eating or living well, and we want to drive a better and healthier lifestyle through cooking health into taste - to serve wholesome but absolutely delicious meals backed by extensive nutritional research,” says founder, Cheman Cheung. “We owe it to BaseHall - they gave us a golden opportunity to take a leap of faith. We are so proud to serve Hongkongers our "kenko bentos". Each bowl comes with distinct Japanese flavours, a balanced mix of nutrients, and satisfying portions.”

In addition to plant-based and vegetarian offerings such as Cold Ume Tofu Mazemen, Nori Lentil Bologneseand Crispy Chilli Garlic Chive Omelette Don, benko by nüte also features chicken and fish options for their kenko bento bowls such as Wasabi Soy Seared Cured Mackerel Don, Yuzu Chicken Don and SenchaMarket Fish Ochazuke. Each bowl featured on the menu is available as a set, accompanied by a small dish and nutritious drink for a more fulfilling lunch or dinner option.

The Japaneasy deli also offers customisable salads for a lighter meal and a selection of small dishes from Vegan Cheese and Onion Edamame, Mixed Veggie Gyozas to Onigirazus (sushi sandwiches), which are perfect for sharing and healthy snacking.

To support guests on their conscious lifestyle journey, each dish served at benko by nüte comes with nutritional information, stating the calories, protein, fibre and saturated fat content, with low and high carb options available upon request.

Tom Andrews, General Manager at Hongkong Land states: “We are proud to welcome the nüte team back to BaseHall for a long-term residency. By providing a platform for local culinary talent, we encourage and support businesses to grow and this latest concept from nüte is a prime example of that. By frequently updating our vendors we will continue to showcase the best of Hong Kong’s local dining scene and highlight new talent in the industry.”

benko by nüte’s Japanese-inspired dishes are available at BaseHall now.
