[Hong Kong & Singapore, 30 November 2023] COMPANION Communications is delighted to announce the appointment of Alex Berry as Head of Dining Projects. This promotion forms part of COMPANION’s recent refreshed branding and renewed focus on three key industries - travel, dining and property.

Alex has formed a key part of the COMPANION team since 2020. As Account Director for dining clients out of the Hong Kong office, she built a strong rapport with chefs and bar-industry professionals, speaks their language and understands instinctively what a bar or restaurant needs to shine in today’s highly competitive landscape.

Since joining COMPANION, Alex has managed the strategy, content development and partnerships for independent ventures and hospitality groups such as The Arcane Collective, BaseHall 1, FRANCIS and Meraki Hospitality Group, as well as launches for The Aubrey at the Mandarin Oriental, Moxie, Terroirs by LQV, Plantation Tea Bar, Intervals at HKIA and Bar Leone.

As part of her promotion to Head of Dining Projects, Alex’s expanded role will include new business development, trade and industry relations, and managing the dining team across PR, content, social media and partnership activations.

Alex states: “I feel very encouraged by the tenacity of the industry, and excited to move into this new role, furthering my focus on the management and nurturing of the agency’s F&B projects in Asia.”

Starting her career 10 years ago in Paris at APR, Alex moved to London where she joined renowned F&B PR agency Gemma Bell & Company. After garnering valuable experience working with some of the world’s best chefs and restaurants - Claude Bosi, Tom Kerridge, Roux at the Landau and 45 Jermyn Street - she felt the call to move back to Hong Kong, where she was born and raised. Alex joined Hong Kong restaurant group Maximal Concepts as their PR Manager in 2019, where she oversaw the communication strategy for the group’s international expansion of their award-winning Chinese restaurant, Mott 32.

Dominique Backhouse, Managing Director of COMPANION, concludes: “Alex has been a key part of the COMPANION team since we first opened our doors. Through the last 3 years, she has helped create some of the most successful dining campaigns in Hong Kong, working hand in hand with our clients during the pandemic to find solutions to an industry battered by policy changes. Now, as Hong Kong and Asia re-emerges and hospitality starts to flourish, I am delighted that Alex is expanding her role to help lead the Dining arm of COMPANION’s servicing.”

Launched in 2019, COMPANION delivers integrated digital and traditional communication strategies, creative campaigns, content curation and social media for dining and property brands in Asia.
