[November 2021] ‘Tis the season, and BaseHall is ready to infuse Hong Kong with a much-needed dose of Christmas cheer. Doubling down on its mission to support local talents, the multi-concept food hall in Jardine House is partnering with a charitable retail concept to create The BaseHall Christmas Market by The Good Sons, followed by The BaseHall Christmas Party on Saturday 11th December.

Masterminded by two long-term Hong Kong residents, The Good Sons is a retail platform that partners with international charities and creates events to showcase new brands, vintage curators, and independent drinking and dining concepts. Each event aims to serve a dual purpose of introducing cool local brands to new audiences while raising awareness and revenues for charities around the world.

The BaseHall Christmas Market by The Good Sons will bring a touch of seasonal magic to the heart of Hong Kong with fun, festive offerings inspired by the beloved Christmas Markets of Europe. From the aromas of mulled wine and Christmas treats wafting through the air to the individual retail booths where guests can pick up locally made gifts and indulge in seasonal activities, as well as live music, charity auctions and plenty more initiatives, BaseHall is the place to be this festive season.

The Christmas market will have plenty of hands-on festive workshops; from Christmas wreath-making workshops by The Grey Green, leather goods workshops by Motto Carpe Diem, and gingerbread decorating with Nest Bakery (a not-for-profit initiative in Hong Kong). Those looking to check off some last-minute items from their Christmas gifting list can browse the pre-loved designer wear from fashion resellers Hula and vinyl records from Yeti Out. Guests will also have a chance to curate their own Christmas hampers for the ideal gift. Perfect for hosting parties, Hong Kong’s favourite French wine destination, La Cabane, will be selling natural wines. Providing an additional charitable aspect and extra adorable-factor, a puppy adoption station by Lifelong Animal Protection Charity will give visitors a chance to adopt a puppy for life, not just the holidays. Walk-ins are most welcome, but to secure your spot at the workshops, sign up via Eventbrite.

By evening, the Christmas market will be transformed into the lively BaseHall Christmas Party with music, games, and more. Six-piece band The Carpio Brothers - who have previously played at Foxglove, the Intercontinental and the Grand Hyatt to name a few - will kick off the party performing Christmas classics and bringing the necessary Michael-Bublé-vibes to BaseHall. DJ Miles Slater will also be on hand throughout the evening playing sets that’ll have all of BaseHall dancing and sing-shouting Mariah Carey.

To further up the seasonal ante, there will be carols, crackers, and friendly competitive revelry from the Ugly Christmas Sweater Competition. Tables will be stocked with classic games such as Jenga, Uno, Cluedo, Guess Who?, FeiHangKei, Catan, Mastermind—and even a life-sized Connect Four. Each BaseHall food outlet will also be offering specially curated festive dishes that are perfect for family-style sharing in between hard-fought battles at the board games and to recharge for dancing.

Guests are encouraged to gather groups of friends and stay into the wee hours enjoying mulled wine, food and music until their hearts are filled with as much Christmas cheer as they can handle. In addition to being a destination for good food, BaseHall has cultivated a reputation for hosting uplifting (and sometimes slightly wild) parties where the vibe is the more the merrier and no one is ever told to go home, and this will be no exception.

“Many of us won’t be able to travel or see family this Christmas, so we wanted to bring the festive spirit to Hong Kong,” says Tom Andrews, Assistant General Manager at Hongkong Land Limited. “The BaseHall Christmas Market by The Good Sons’ will offer an immersive experience and plenty of seasonal fun, while the charitable aspect remains true to the spirit of Christmas, which is about kindness and compassion. In the evening, the Christmas Party will give everyone a chance to let loose and enjoy the silly season after a long and trying year.”

BaseHall’s Christmas festivities will take place on 11 December. The BaseHall Christmas Market by The Good Sons will run from 11am-4pm and will be open to all with complimentary entry. The BaseHall Christmas Partywill be held from 5pm-10pm and will be ticketed. Tickets are $260, including a mulled wine, and are available at Eventbrite.
