[8th June 2020] BaseHall is Hong Kong’s bold new dining destination, a multi-concept food hall in Jardine House set to re-define eating and drinking in Central, from lunch through to dinner and beyond.

Ten outlets celebrate Hong Kong's homegrown culinary talent, from Roti Tori, a Japanese-inspired rotisserie chicken spot by Yardbird Hong Kong, to Pub 1842 from Young Master, tacos and more at Westside Taqueria from taco king, Esdras Ochoa. Contemporary nasi lemak at Return of Lemak by the renowned former chef at Beet, Barry Quek adds a new offering to the mix.

To the sound of live DJs and under the city's most extraordinary indoor lighting system, BaseHall lets the flavours of Hong Kong, Asia and beyond take centre stage in sensational eats and drinks that champion local culture and the 852's world-class culinary scene.

Whether picking up to go or dining in, the eight food outlets and two bars will keep Central happily fed and watered from morning to night, creating a culinary destination unmatched in energy, diversity, atmosphere and most of all, flavours.

Other outlets include the likes of Honbofrom Michael Chan with his famed gourmet burgers, Moyo Sik from the same people behind the much-loved contemporary Korean spot Moyo on Aberdeen Street and Co Thanh, whose authentic Vietnamese dishes have led to lines of diners on Kau U Fong.

Those after tasty, plant-based wraps and salads can hit up Treehouse, while for decadent and indulgent treats, Cookie Dpt have all the cookies you'll need. Finally BaseHall Bar has the ingredients to keep people entertained day or night, be it for a freshly brewed coffee, worldly wines or an Asian-inspired cocktail - maybe with a grilled cheese sandwich on the side.

Tom Andrews, Senior Asset Manager at Hongkong Land Limited, explains how and why BaseHall is set to revolutionise Central's dining scene:  "We took almost two years to choose our operators, searching across the city for the most exciting and upcoming talent.  Our aim is to incubate new F&B concepts in Hong Kong by providing a unique platform for creative chefs to develop new offerings. We hope that BaseHall will become an exciting new dining destination for the Central office community as well as our LANDMARK customer base. The diverse mix of food and drinks as well as music and content will definitely create a fun space for our younger clientele.”

Raymond Chow, Executive Director at Hongkong Land, continues: “BaseHall forms a key part of our strategy to attract younger customers to LANDMARK while still catering to our existing loyal customer base. We are continuing to invest in F&B at LANDMARK to reaffirm our position as the market leader for dining in Hong Kong. We believe that the food hall concept is truly innovative and will offer new experiences for our existing LANDMARK customers and the Central office population, as well as attracting the wider Hong Kong community.

BaseHall's look is like nothing else in Hong Kong, reflecting the city's world-leading design scene, thanks to a creative partnership with Linehouse. The concept draws from historical depictions of Jardine House in 1970s cinema, conveying a nostalgic throwback through its spatial arrangement and the use of materiality, lighting and detailing. Everything is designed to make the experience swift and seamless for Hong Kong's diners and drinkers, including a convenient and smart Point of Sales system that consigns cash transactions to history.

Sustainability is a key focus for BaseHall, as seen in the compostable food packaging and cutlery, water fountains, waste decomposters and upcycled design elements - such as the rods from the ceiling of two Michelin-starred restaurant Amber that now line walls and cubicles in the bathrooms.  As part of its commitment to minimise food waste and support the city, BaseHall is also partnering with the food assistance programme, St James’ Settlement to distribute leftover food to worthwhile causes across the city.

As a place to celebrate Hong Kong and its creative food industry, BaseHall is also set to experiment with brave new culinary ideas and events, championing the food and people that make one of the world's greatest food cities so unique.
