From waterfall chasing, to sandbank picnics and snorkelling with turtles and watching the fireflies light up the night sky - each experience has been designed to celebrate the best of the wilds of Palawan.
At the heart of Banwa Private Island is the Aquos Foundation with the mission to support, nurture and protect the island’s delicate ecosystems. Each initiative supported by the foundation is based on scientific research and involves the local community.
Programmes include protection of the critically endangered Hawkbill Turtles by setting up conservation practices to protect preferential areas for the turtles to lay their eggs, deployment of over 400 structures to stimulate the regeneration of corals around the island and academic studies on the native Tabon Bird and Mantanani Scops Owl, as well as the preservation of the indigenous beach forests where they nest.

WATERFALL CHASING AT DISAY FALLS
Travel through the Ilian River, take a short trek in the lowland forest through the remote barangay of Bagumbayan to the Disay Falls. Marvel at the beauty of this undiscovered natural hideaway, enclosed by a vast rock formation and cascading waterfalls coming from Mt.Ilian, the highest peak in Palawan. Above the falls is a natural basin ideal for swimming which makes for a refreshing dip after a trek.
SANDBANK PICNICS AND SNORKELLING
Banwa Private Island’s Unscripted Adventures motors you by boat trip to Modessa - a small, idyllic coconut palm-fringed island that can be circumnavigated on foot in about twenty minutes. Fishfeeding, snorkelling,scuba diving,windsurfing and kayaking are just a few of the activities available as well asa picnic breakfast or lunch, on the island or a nearby sandbank.
FIREFLY WATCHING AND RIVER CRUISE
Banwa Private Island’s Unscripted Adventures explores the hidden treasure of Barbacan River, one of north-eastern Palawan’s major bodies of water and the oldest water flow crossing the town of San Nicolas. The Barbacan River’s mangrove-lined banks support a rich and diverse ecosystem providing habitat for a wealth of flora and fauna. A scenic 30-minute boat trip takes you to the river mouth carving its path into the untouched heart of nature where you can relax on the boat, or take out a kayak or pedal paddleboard. At sunset, discover a unique phenomenon of luminescent fireflies on tree branches as they turn into a glittering spectacle.
