A Trio of Outstanding New Drinking & Dining Destinations Arrive at BaseHall

Buildingon its mission to support culinary talent in the city, BaseHall has introduced FRANCIS as its newest outlet. The popular neighbourhood eatery from Wanchai isnow offering its signature vibrant Middle Eastern fare to diners in the heartof Central. Additionally, PUB 1842 by Young Masters have extended theircomforting yet contemporary take on a traditional public house with Grub 1842,while BaseHall Bar are revamping with a new wine bar concept, under the aptlynamed WineHouse by BaseHall Bar.

 

FRANCIS brings Middle Eastern flair to BaseHall

 

Headed by Israeli chef AsherGoldstein, FRANCIS is a go-to for flavourful dishes inspired by the street foodof Tel Aviv. At BaseHall, diners will be able to indulge in the same style of palate-pleasingdishes. Rotisserie meats will be thesignature offering such as za’atar spiced chicken served with moudadara, aspiced rice with lentils and caramelised onions and beef short rib shawarma. Dinerscan also enjoy Manti dumplings, with either a lamb or vegetarian filling,served with yoghurt and grated tomato. For plant-based eaters, the outlet willalso offer Sabich as a signature item. The sandwich is a favourite Israelistreet snack; here, it’s a Jerusalem sesame bagel with fried eggplant, potato, hard-boiledeggs, and harissa.

 

Chef Goldstein and FRANCIS firmly believe thatvegetables are just as important as fish and meat and adhering to this culinaryethos, the new BaseHall location also offers deliciously spiced plant-baseddishes and a wide selection of meat-free mezze. Whether it’s Hummus, RoastedEggplant, or Fried Cauliflower, all the vegetarian dishes here are sure toplease everyone.

 

Diners will be able to enjoy a full taste ofFRANCIS with a 3-course set menu (HK$160) that’s exclusive to BaseHall. Themeal includes a Jerusalem Bagel, a soft and airy oval shaped bagel with a touchof sweetness thanks to the honeyed sesame topping, with a choice of meze, maincourse and dessert.

 

Drinks at the new FRANCIS outlet willalso offer a touch of Middle Eastern flavour. Diners will be able to pair theirmeals with two of the restaurant’s popular mocktails—the Limonana and DesertRose—in a slushy format, and heady Pomegranate Negronis. In keeping withFrancis’ wine ethos, they will be offering a selection of wines from the MiddleEast on a rotating basis – by the glass $70 and bottle $300.

 

WineHouse by BaseHall Bar – an oenophiles utopia, now at BaseHall

 

Introducing an extensive, highly curatedcollection of wine from all over the world, WineHouse by BaseHall Bar isthe ultimate new destination for oenophiles. Diners at BaseHall can indulge ina premium selection of wine – by the glass starting at $35 to $100 - ranging fromtraditional vintages to a unique selection from Japan. Sparkling sake and adeliciously refreshing cocktail menu complete WineHouse’s enticing offering,for that all important post-work drink. A curated selection of bottles, soldclosely to retail price, is also available for those looking to enjoy WineHouse by BaseHall Bar’s exceptional range at home.

 

Grub 1842 introduces revolving pop-up cuisine to BaseHall

 

Under the tongue-in-cheek guise ofGrub 1842, the new rotating culinary pop-up concept from Pub 1842 is beginningits tenure at BaseHall with a gourmet take on Mac & Cheese. Diners canchoose from one of four decadent options - from the Classic Mac, with itsindulgent combination of Gruyère Béchamel, Mozzarella, Garlic Panko, Egg Yolkto the highly original Black Mac, featuring Squid Ink, Gruyère Béchamel,Mozzarella and Hotaru Ika. Those with more of a sweet tooth will delight in theDark Chocolate & Peanut Butter Cannoli by Holy Cannoli. In addition totheir beers on tap, Pub 1842 has also extended their beverage offering to alsoinclude a selection of natural wines provided by La Cabane.
