Companion is a Collective of experienced senior communications consultants across the Asia-Pacific and Greater China regions. We employ no junior staff.
Our strategies
Every member of our team has years of experience in different communication modalities across Asia and Greater China.

This guarantees deeper strategic understanding and local knowledge in each part of this multi-cultural and multi-lingual region.

Our aim is to function as an extension of our clients' in-house communication marketing teams to deliver strategic positioning, relationship building, public relations and social media campaigns in a regionally relevant way.

Communications & Public Relations

Companion provides expertise that pushes beyond the traditional boundaries of communications and public relations in Asia and Greater China.

We've spent years learning the ins and outs of getting brands noticed in the region. We know what works and  we create tailored Asian campaigns that deliver results. Importantly, our team has taken the time to build strong relationships across the region, so we know exactly who, how and when to talk to key decision makers and influencers.

From country-specific KOL campaigns to multi-regional (and multi-lingual) online strategies, we like to think out of the box to get our clients noticed by the right people.

This is communications and public relations for Asia-Pacific and Greater China, but not as you know it.

Social Media

In today's world - and particularly in Asia - there is no PR campaign without a well-thought out strategic social media strategy to bolster it. Companion has a strong team of social specialists, focused on brand recognition, content creation, visual identity and community engagement.

Collaborations & Partnerships

To drive our strategic communications in Asia, Companion selects and engages ambassadors, talent and brands for lasting collaborations, credibly boosting brand image and awareness while driving consumer acquisition.

We work across a  cross-section of collaborations, ranging from industry partnerships, sponsorships, ambassador programmes and beyond. We are your ears and eyes in Asia and Greater China.

Content

Companion excels at content - both written messaging and visual identity.

Our goal is to grow and build brands to increase audience outreach and user experience. Localisation is key. Something that works in Singapore may not work in Hong Kong. That's why we have localised senior teams in each primary media market.

We're also the only agency that holds your hand throughout the visual brand building process, finding the right photographers, sets and stylists to help bring your vision to life. Because an image is worth a thousand words, so why leave it to chance?
About
Companion's Managing Director

Companion is run as a Collective and as such the Managing Director is simply 'Primus Inter Pares' amongst a group of senior directors with years of experience in a communications modality. Each member of our Collective is as important as the next.

Originally from Hong Kong, Dominique Backhouse has spent the last 14 years working in communications in Asia-Pacific and Greater China, both in-house and agency-side.

Prior to launching Companion in 2019, Dominique led the Asia-Pacific PR and communications strategy for hospitality brand COMO Hotels and Resorts and wellness brand COMO Shambhala.

Before her years inhouse, Dominique spent 9 years agency-side in Asia-Pacific. She was a Senior Account Director at GHCAsia, where she led a team of 9 people across 23 accounts with a focus on lifestyle, hospitality, travel and design. There, Dominique directed the Asian communication strategies for brands as diverse as Belmond, Oetker Collection, Qantas, Leading Hotels of the World, One&Only Resorts, Aqua Restaurant Group, CE LA VI, Champagne Barons de Rothschild, Longines Horse Masters and many more.
